For years, October has been the month when the open source community comes together to celebrate Hacktoberfest and contributes to open source projects en masse. We have seen incredible involvement from the Shopware community in this event in the past and are grateful for the dedication you show each year! This year, we want to celebrate Hacktober officially.
Why Hacktober matters
Hacktober brings together thousands of contributors and maintainers from all around the globe to work on improving open-source software. By participating, you help make the Shopware ecosystem stronger while improving your skills. This is a great chance to learn, collaborate, and make a real impact on Shopware’s development.
How to contribute
To ensure smooth collaboration, here are some important rules to follow when working on Shopware tickets:
Comment first: Before starting work on a ticket, leave a comment in the GitHub ticket, stating that you're working on it. This prevents others from duplicating efforts.
Follow guidelines: Read the contribution guidelines on our GitHub repositories and adhere to them carefully to ensure your work can be merged smoothly.
Stay engaged: Join our dedicated Hacktober Slack channel to stay updated, ask questions, and collaborate with other contributors. This is the go-to place for live discussions, help and support during Hacktober.
Submit quality PRs: Focus on submitting meaningful pull requests that align with Shopware's vision. Superficial or duplicate PRs won’t be accepted.
Join our onsite event
We’re also thrilled to host an onsite Hacktoberfest event on the 4th and 5th of October at the Shopware Campus in Schöppingen. This event will bring the community together in person for coding, collaboration, and fun!
Let’s make Hacktober 2024 a success together! Whether you’re new to coding or a seasoned developer, every contribution matters and helps drive the Shopware community forward.
See you in the Slack channel or at the onsite event – happy coding!
