First, let's cover the essentials: Shopware Community Day 2024 took place on May 15th and 16th at Landschaftspark Duisburg-Nord. The event drew over 1,500 international e-commerce enthusiasts and featured both a Tech Day and a Commerce Day. Tech Day spotlighted Shopware's latest technical innovations and our developer community, while Commerce Day shifted focus to the merchant's perspective, diving into the solutions introduced the day before. Each day boasted two stages, hosting over 30 presentations in total.

The Tech Day program
The Tech Day drew over 600 attendees to the halls of the Landschaftspark Duisburg-Nord, making it significantly larger than last year, which delighted all involved. Over 15 sessions were presented on the Main and Community stages, featuring speakers from both Shopware and its vibrant community. Topics ranged from "Composable Frontends" and "Headless Commerce" to "The Power of Community." The keynote, delivered by Mark Stanley (CPTO, Shopware) and Daniel Nögel (VP Engineering, Shopware), was a major highlight.

Beyond the variety of talks, the "Shopware vs. Community Game" was a standout highlight for many. This popular format never fails to thrill the crowd. Members of our community and the Shopware team compete for the coveted Community Challenge Cup, which they hold for a year until the next SCD. While the participants and games change each time, the excitement, a wooden Elephpant, and a blue suit are always part of the fun.
"What a great experience indeed! For those part of the Shopware ecosystem, please, make sure you come in the next year! This is the greatest conference you can visit in the Shopware world. Let me say it once again: it pays off!" – Matheus Gontijo, Shopware Developer and SCD speaker
The Commerce Day program
The second day of Shopware Community Day saw a great turnout once again. The day kicked off with a warm welcome from Commerce Day host Heike Zellerhoff, followed by the keynote address. Sebastian Hamann (Shopware Founder and Co-CEO) took the stage to share insights into Shopware's forward-thinking innovation strategy:
"In the next five years, Artificial Intelligence and Spatial Commerce will significantly shape and change the market as core technologies. We are already making these technologies accessible today so that our retailers can immediately benefit from the resulting added value and are perfectly positioned for this new era in online retail."
Sebastian Hamann was alluding to new features for Shopware, which he introduced in more detail with the help of further speakers:
Julia Leusing (Product Manager, Shopware) presented the new AI Copilot "Text to Image" feature, which generates high-quality backgrounds for product presentations from text.
Marie Reckendrees (Product Manager, Shopware) illustrated the "Scene Editor", which will soon be directly integrated into Shopware and includes AR, VR, and 3D functions.
Daniel Skogly from Instorier introduced the new Shopware app "Immersive Elements", which enables immersive storytelling and innovative product presentations with 3D spotmarks, parallax effects, AR, and VR.

Immerse yourself in the SCD Atmosphere
When the Shopware Community gathers, it creates an unparalleled experience. We enjoyed the great vibe and received a lot of positive feedback from the participants. Let’s take a closer look at the extra initiatives and the surroundings that made the event so special.
Plenty of opportunities between talks
Networking is crucial at any community and ecommerce event. To facilitate this, we provided all participants with stickers to place on their name badges. These stickers helped everyone display their interests, making it easier to connect with like-minded individuals. Additionally, participants could collect special stickers by completing various challenges, allowing them to win prizes such as limited-edition SCD24 pins or KoRo shop vouchers.
We also hosted a special meet-up for women. The “Women in Tech Coffee” offered a space for women to connect and get to know each other better.
For those looking to capture moments with colleagues, business partners, or new contacts, the photo booth was the perfect spot. Countless fun snapshots and group photos were taken, both at the booth and around the event.
Naturally, no event is complete without great food and drinks. Both were included in the ticket price, allowing everyone to indulge freely. Indoors, there was a buffet during meal times, while outside, various food trucks served delicious options all day – from fries and burgers to curry and bubble waffles.
The aftershow parties provided the perfect end to each day. Attendees celebrated and danced the night away – whether to the beats of DJane Daytona or 90s icon Oli P.
Stunning venue at Landschaftspark Duisburg-Nord
Landschaftspark Duisburg-Nord has frequently hosted Shopware Community Day, and it's easy to see why. The decommissioned steelworks, with its towering industrial structures and vibrant illuminated facades, offer a unique charm that transforms every event into an unforgettable experience.
The blend of historic industrial architecture and modern amenities makes Landschaftspark Duisburg-Nord a fascinating location that perfectly fits the Shopware Community Day.
A big thank you
